Mission & Ministry Team Coordinator: Faith Community & Retreats

Summary: The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a campus minister/religion teacher to serve as the Coordinator for Faith Community & Retreats. We are looking for a pastoral educator and practicing Catholic who collaborates with the Mission & Ministry Team to foster the spiritual and community life of the school body, in the light of Gospel values and the charism and core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. As a pastoral presence, this person coordinates formational activities, such as retreats, prayer services, and other communal faith experiences that build a welcoming community steeped in Christian values—and actualizes the meaning of “loving God with all your heart… and loving your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:32). As a teacher, this person also helps form the faith life and leadership skills of high school Peer Ministers by co-teaching one senior theology course.

Classification: This is a full-time, 10-month position commencing in August of 2022.

Reports to: Director of Mission & Ministry

Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or master’s degree in religious studies, pastoral studies, theology, or spirituality.
· Education background and/or faith formation background preferred.
· Experience planning retreats and mission trips are a plus. Comfortable in an intergenerational setting.
· Support the mission and goals of the Sisters of the Holy Names and the initiatives set forth by the AHN Board of Trustees.

Position Responsibilities:
1. Acts as the primary coordinator of retreats (grades 3-12), collaborating with team members to foster meaningful, guided experiences for students that develop a personal relationship with God and in the community, and help them explore and make meaning of their faith.
2. Serves as a theology teacher in faith and spiritual formation, forming and empowering High School Peer Ministers in discipleship and leadership in the context of a faith community.
3. Collaborates with the Director of Mission & Ministry and Team in the coordination of the high school local service-learning experiences & overnight Mission Trips.
4. Assists with liturgical celebrations and Mission & Ministry programs that foster religious, spiritual, and intercultural formation. Partners with team members to prepare and facilitate additional sacramental and prayer experiences that support a variety of Christian expressions of an interpersonal and communal relationship with God.
5. Works as an active, reflective team player with the rest of the Mission & Ministry Team in promoting the School’s Catholic identity and SNJM spirit while enlivening the spiritual life, community life, and service life of the school.
