Assistant Principal for Student Leadership

Reports to: High School Principal

Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership with at least 5 years of teaching experience and preferably 3-5 years of progressive administrative experience in an all-girls private secondary setting. Florida certification in Secondary Administration or equivalent is required. However, demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of coursework and training in educational leadership will be considered.

Classification: 12 months, exempt position.

Responsibilities:
The candidate must possess the skills and ability to provide the leadership necessary to guide a student-centered experience for young women in support of a robust and rigorous academic and faith-life program. The Assistant Principal for Student Leadership provides the necessary safety infrastructure that monitors student attendance, discipline, counseling services, health, and transportation (as needed). This member of the high school team will participate in working with the feedback, goal-setting, and evaluation of the instructional and student support team, as it relates to meeting curricular targets and measures for efficacy. Along with other members of the school’s administrative team, this instructional leader will work to develop faculty and staff, design policies and procedures, use data to drive continuous school improvement, drive student program innovation that complements the academic program and engage the broader community in marketing and recruitment efforts by showcasing the broad spectrum of student opportunities at Academy of the Holy Names.

Duties:
1. Determine, in consultation with the Principal, policies, and guidelines for the student experience, including infusion of mission-centered policies that support the school’s code of conduct.
2. Develop a clear and concise communication cadence for all elements of the student experience that must be shared with students, families, and outside stakeholders. This will include an expectation for clear parent communication and conduct.
3. Oversee space utilization and direct all tasks as relevant to the appropriate High School Office administrative support personnel. Coordinate any facilities’ rentals through the High School Administrative. Assistant and any other affected areas of the school operation.
4. Coordinate bus transportation for school and school activities and coordinate relationships with school-sponsored van service routes. Coordinate and enforce all student parking distribution and conduct.
5. Prepare and distribute student and faculty ID cards and hall passes and direct all tasks along these lines to the appropriate administrative support personnel.
6. Supervise the recording of student attendance, lateness, demerits, and suspension records. Systematize a system for parent notification and clear action steps with regard to students with problematic attendance and late records.
7. Enforce the student code of conduct fairly and evenly. Create a feedback mechanism to indicate action steps taken for students, instructional staff, and families.
8. Consult the Principal and High School Administrative team regarding discipline concerns, school problems, and emergencies.
9. Supervise the assignment of student lockers and coordinate repair and maintenance. Maintain a record of all locker assignments.
10. Establish dialogue with parents, students, and faculty concerning problems of student attendance, lateness, and conduct and document accordingly; dismissals must be with the consultation with the President and Principal.
11. Act as the liaison between students and faculty in discipline concerns.
12. Coordinate with the clinic and oversee the procedure for sending students home from this office.
13. Provide all required reporting on health, safety, discipline, and attendance as needed.
14. Supervise Personal Counseling Services and take leadership in scheduling programming of benefit to the student experience.
15. Serve as High School Crisis Management Coordinator. Plan, practice, and supervise the safe evacuation or confinement of all school personnel in the event of an emergency.
16. Serve as the administrative representative to the Student Assistance Team, and the Crisis Management and Pandemic Response Teams.
17. Develop budgets for all major activities, e.g., Baccalaureate, graduation, proms, and dances.
18. Monitor the Activities programs.
19. Work in close coordination with the Athletic Program.
20. Develop a system to implement data-driven continuous program improvement.
21. Participate in the feedback, goal-setting, and evaluation of faculty and instructional support staff as directed by the Principal.
22. Assume responsibilities delegated by the Principal.
