Founded in 1881, the Academy of the Holy Names is a private Catholic school for boys and girls in prekindergarten through 8th grade and a college preparatory high school for young women, located on 19 scenic acres along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, Florida. The Position:
The Chief Finance and Operations Officer will apply strategic and operational leadership, innovation, and in-depth knowledge to design and execute a comprehensive financial strategy in support of AHNs strategic plan, particularly related to ensuring institutional sustainability and a sound fiscal operation. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CFOO will lead the business office and other areas of non-academic operations (e.g.health clinic, food service, security, auxiliary programs, and facilities) to deliver operational excellence in all facets of their roles.

Additionally, the CFOO will protect the financial stability, safety, security, and growth of the school, while embracing and promoting AHN’s Catholic mission and the core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names in all facets of the inner workings and business dealings of the school.

The CFOO reports directly to the President and works in conjunction with the Board of Trustees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Chief Finance and Operations Officer Oversees, and directly participates in, safeguarding the school’s financial health, including any and all capital campaigns, as well as all financial transactions between AHN and any contractor.
2. Works with the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees to develop and implement all financial-related documentation, policies, and procedures and ensures they are well communicated and maintained.
3. Creates and maintains a strategic, long-term financial plan that indicates trends and identifies additional finances required to fund the school’s proposed activities, forecasting future year budgets, and enabling the Board to plan appropriately.
4. Develop long-term investment plans, selecting the types of investments that are most appropriate and achieve maximum return, in consideration of risks, stakeholder views, and the like.
5. Establishes a schedule for preparing the annual budget and provides routine updates to the Board.
6. Oversees the development of baseline budgets for departments and their budgetary controls; coaches and advises leaders on preparing and managing their departmental budgets
7. Manages the work of business office staff to ensure standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures are used, accurate and continuous records of the financial position of the school are kept, strong internal controls are maintained, and the financial operation of the school is running effectively so that the school remains financially stable.
8. Organize an annual external audit of the school’s financial records and position.
9. Partners with the President on any legal matter within the school.
10. Oversees all school purchasing, bid procedures, inventory control, financial investments, banking activities, debt management, and payroll.
11. Manages the relationship with the insurance brokers and medical insurance carriers to provide the best benefit program to employees.
12. Effectively communicates the school’s financial position and performance to the Board, staff members, and the community at large.
13. Oversees the creation of the facilities roadmap that is progressive and prioritizes projects based on what is most important to achieving the strategy of the school.
14. Maintains appropriate levels of insurance to protect the property, the school, and cover the school’s liability.
15. Oversees the allocation and distribution of financial aid.
16. Guides, inspires and motivates all team members who work in the business office, the health clinic, food service, auxiliary services, security, and facilities. Informally and formally evaluates direct reports’ performance and provides feedback regarding their performance. Coaches and/or mentors team members.
17. Keeps up to date with innovative developments and trends in the finance field; makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional; acts to keep self professionally competent and upgrades own leadership capability.
18. Displays the highest ethical and professional standards, acting as a role model.

Required Qualifications:
1. Be a champion for Catholic education and eager to learn, embody, and promote the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary
2. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related financial field
3. 8-10 years of experience in finance/accounting
4. Strong written and oral communication skills

This position is a 12-month, in-office position.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. CPA, Master of Accountancy, and/or an MBA in accountancy or finance
2. Experience in a financial leadership position and managing capital projects
3. Demonstrated experience in non-profit and/or school accounting
4. Working with board governance
