Theatre Technician

The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a theatre technician for the Bailey Family Center for the Arts for the 2018-2019 school year. This is a newly created, part-time, 30-hour-a-week position. It is a 10-month position with the possibility of teaching classes in lighting, sound and/or set design to students in the future.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum relevant experience in theatre lighting and sound systems.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or related field is a plus.

• Florida Certificate or credentials to obtain certificate preferred.

• Ability to have a flexible schedule, including night and weekend work, is preferred.

• Ability to lift heavy equipment and climb ladders.

Position Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of the theatrical lighting system. This includes the lighting board, refocusing lights, including the catwalk, as well as replacing gels.

• Design and build lighting layouts.

• Organize and maintain the theatre storage room that includes costumes, furniture and laundry.

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of the sound board as well as mentor students on its use with a strong emphasis on iPad use.

• Help guide students in designing and building sets.

• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and organized facility, as well as following all established policies regarding cleanliness, safety, and proper disposal of materials.

• Other related duties as assigned.
