Theatre Technician
Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, the Academy of the Holy Names is a Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women. Employment Opportunity
The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a theatre technician for the Bailey Family Center for the Arts for the 2018-2019 school year. This is a newly created, part-time, 30-hour-a-week position. It is a 10-month position with the possibility of teaching classes in lighting, sound and/or set design to students in the future.
Qualifications

5 years minimum relevant experience in theatre lighting and sound systems.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or related field is a plus.

Florida Certificate or credentials to obtain certificate preferred.

Ability to have a flexible schedule, including night and weekend work, is preferred.

Ability to lift heavy equipment and climb ladders.
Position Responsibilities

Oversee the operation and maintenance of the theatrical lighting system. This includes the lighting board, refocusing lights, including the catwalk, as well as replacing gels.

Design and build lighting layouts.

Organize and maintain the theatre storage room that includes costumes, furniture and laundry.

Oversee the operation and maintenance of the sound board as well as mentor students on its use with a strong emphasis on iPad use.

Help guide students in designing and building sets.

Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and organized facility, as well as following all established policies regarding cleanliness, safety, and proper disposal of materials.

Other related duties as assigned.
This position reports to the Director of Facilities.
