Employment Opportunity

The Academy of the Holy Names Rowing Club is looking for a head coach for the 2018-2019 school year. The AHNRC is run by the head coach and is supported by a Board of parents. The crew coach reports to the Academy of the Holy Names athletic director and works in conjunction with the Academy of the Holy Names Rowing Club Board who will oversee all non-coaching related responsibilities.

This is a paid, part-time position without benefits; salary is commensurate with experience. Travel expenses are included in compensation.

Practices for the fall season begin in August and end in November, before the Thanksgiving holiday. Spring season begins upon the return from Christmas break in January and continues through SRAA Nationals in May. Practices are Monday-Friday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Some Saturday practices could be scheduled per the coach's discretion and Board agreement, and/or a fitness plan is to be prepared to give girls to self-complete on Saturdays. Coaching opportunities may extend into the winter and spring breaks as long as membership permits.

Those applying for the position would also be considered for any teaching openings that may be available. Minimum teaching requirements include a bachelor’s degree in the related subject, a valid Florida Department of Education Professional Certificate or Statement of Eligibility in the related subject, demonstrate proficiency in instructional technology, and be supportive of Catholic education.

Qualifications
  • Competitive rowing background.
  • Coaching experience (preferably past experience with coaching females).
  • First Aid/CPR Certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Florida Boaters Safety or equivalent or a willingness to obtain certification
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff
  • Must pass a Level 2 background screening
Position Responsibilities
  • Enthusiasm for the sport of rowing.
  • Teaching novice rowers a competitive stroke.
  • Running practices on the erg and on the water (outdoor practices: Riverfront Park, Tampa, Fla./indoor practices: Academy of the Holy Names High School, Tampa, Fla.).
  • Attendance at all practices, meetings and regattas.
  • Developing/implementing a fitness/conditioning/strength-training/ workout tor the athletes.
  • Fostering an environment for developing rowers to achieve success at the state, region and national levels.
  • Supervising student-athletes during regattas.
  • Selecting and supervising assistant coaches as needed.
  • Communicating with parents via weekly updates.
  • Attendance of bi-weekly meeting with AHNRC president and athletic director.
