The Academy of the Holy Names is a Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a high school softball head coach for the 2017-2018 school year. The high school softball program has experienced great success over the past eight years, capturing numerous district championships and advancing to region play each of these years. The 2016-2017 season saw the team make school history, earning the school’s first region championship in the sport and advancing to the state tournament for the first time in softball program history. Our next head coach will inherit a talented group of young ladies. Those applying for the position would also be considered for any teaching openings that may be available. Minimum teaching requirements include a bachelor’s degree in the related subject; a valid Florida Department of Education Professional Certificate or Statement of Eligibility in the related subject; demonstrate proficiency in instructional technology; and be supportive of Catholic education.

Qualifications

• Past playing and coaching experience
• Must pass a Level 2 background screening

Position Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the softball program, working in conjunction with the athletic director
• Planning and delivery of daily practices
• Supervision of all team members
• Game preparation
• Create interest in the program during the off-season
• Run off-season workouts prior to mid-January tryouts
• Serve as a role model to the team, demonstrating character on and off the field
• Other duties as assigned

The coaching position receives a stipend along with the opportunity run a softball summer camp as a part of the Summer on Bayshore Athletic Camps program.
