Description

The Academy of the Holy Names is an independent, Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Mission & Ministry Team Assistant

 

Position Description: The Mission & Ministry Team Assistant is a flexible and collaborative team member who works within the department of Mission & Ministry to serve the Academy of the Holy Names community of students (not excluding faculty and staff, parents, and alumni) by providing programming and pastoral care that supports their faith life, as well as their understanding of and living out of the school mission and its Catholic identity, which is rooted in the mission and charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Reports to: Director of Mission & Ministry

Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s Degree; post-graduate work in theology, pastoral studies, and/or spirituality preferred.
2. Experience in faith formation and/or as a Catholic School teacher, teaching elementary and/or high school students.
3. Experience planning retreats and mission trips or service projects is a plus.
4. Must be comfortable with technology and be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Google Apps or SharePoint.

Major Responsibilities: The Mission & Ministry Team Assistant is a faith leader who collaborates with other members of the Mission & Ministry Team. This person organizes and assists with the planning and delivery of Mission & Ministry programs in the areas of worship, prayer, retreats, service, justice, and other formative experiences in the light of Gospel values and the charism and core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names.

1. Collaborates with team members in community service and social justice programming, fostering meaningful faith experiences and an understanding of living out the Catholic Identity, Gospel values, and core values and corporate stances of the Sisters of the Holy Names.
     A. Collaborates on coordinating high school service-learning/mission/immersion experiences.
     B. Assists with age-appropriate elementary school service and justice opportunities.
     C. Assists with scheduling sites and transportation for all Mission & Ministry service and mission trip activities.

2. Collaborates with team members in faith formation, liturgical celebrations, care of chapel, sacraments, retreats, and pastoral care) that foster religious and spiritual values in campus life consistent with the mission and goals of the Academy.
     A. Assists with preparation and facilitation of retreats, prayer services, and other faith and charism formation experiences for students,            particularly on the high school level.
     B. Engages in informal and formal ways with faculty, staff, and students to promote effective campus life.
     C. Collaborates with Mission & Ministry Team on communications about services and programs.
     D. Reflects on accomplishments and challenges in the department; collaborates in problem-solving to achieve the goals of the department and the school.

3. Collaborates with and supports the Director of Mission & Ministry in promoting the Catholic identity and mission of the Academy of the Holy Names among students, staff, parents, and alumni, and enables collaborative relationships with the Diocese of St. Petersburg, FL.
     A. Collaborates with Mission & Ministry Team, students, administrators, faculty, and staff to develop and coordinate activities that integrate Catholic identity and SNJM charism, core values and heritage into all areas of the school.
     B. Helps develop student leaders who will model for their peers their faith life, Catholic identity, mission and values.
     C. Participates in special events as requested.
