Learning Resource Specialist

The Academy of the Holy Names is an independent, Catholic, coeducational elementary school and a college preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Our mission is to develop the spiritual, academic, personal and physical growth of each student within an atmosphere of care and concern, while providing quality educational opportunities for students of diverse ethnic, economic and religious backgrounds, and encouraging each student to realize his/her full potential as an intelligent and culturally, spiritually and socially aware individual.

Employment Opportunity: The Academy of the Holy Names seeks a learning resource specialist who is talented and energetic to oversee the academic program for our students with learning differences in the 2017-2018 school year.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in counseling or special education. Experience working with high school or middle school students with Learning Plans/IEP’s. Experience working in a private school setting with students with learning needs.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Create a culture of success for students.
  • Collaborate with parents, instructors, and students to create learning plans for students.
  • Create professional development for teachers.
  • Monitor, track, and support students with learning plans.
  • Monitor extended-time testers.
  • Work with the College Board and others to acquire accommodations for students.
  • Track data for students to make adjustments to the learning plans.
  • Report weekly on student progress to the high school principal.
  • Actively communicate with parents on progress, etc.
  • Keep accurate records, ensuring that students are progressing and monitoring progress.
  • Perform supervision duties as assigned.
  • Meet with students and parents to discuss any concerns or issues with student progress and learning.
