Employment Opportunity:
The Academy of the Holy Names seeks an energetic and innovative ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Resource Specialist and Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in exceptional student education.  Master’s preferred.
2. A current Florida state teaching certificate for Exceptional Student Education.
3. Experience that illustrates a strong background in creating and implementing evidence-based interventions for individuals with learning disabilities.  
4. Excellent communication and organizational skills to work with students, parents, teachers and outside professionals.

This position plays a vital role in teaching specific skills and learning strategies to help students achieve academic success. 

Primary responsibilities include the following:
1. Maintain a student caseload for intervention instruction management and co-instructional planning with faculty.
2. Provide 1:1 and/or small group instruction to students using evidence-based instructional practices aligned with our curriculum.
3. Assist teachers in applying differentiated instruction/intervention strategies in their classrooms for struggling students.
4. Help to train teacher assistants on how to best support students with special needs.
5. Perform classroom observations on struggling students.
6. Communicate regularly with teachers and Counselors regarding each students’ progress so that any changes that are needed can be made to the student support plan.
7. Attend support plan meetings/team meetings as needed.
8. Together with Counselors/Administration, coordinate professional development related to working with students with disabilities.
9. Together with Counselors/Administration, coordinate “Best practices” and education for parents.
10. Work with administration to develop curriculum for Study Skills and Academic Resource classes.
11. Other duties as needed, assigned by the Principal.

This position reports to the Elementary School principal.
